Closer Summary; Number eight

B.J. Ryan
This guy has a great K possibility and, AND, he's a southpaw. (Left handed pitcher) He's switched teams this year formerly being with the Orioles but that should affect his stats at all. It might even make him do better, but who knows?

Comments:
I think you should trade this guy to the Circle Me Bert Team in your league. I have no connection to that team, but I just think you should do it, that's all. Just trust me on this. I wouldn't steer you wrong.

Ok that post that was deleted was my post I just wanted to edit it and there was no other way.

What I wanted to say was why do you lie? I know you ARE the Circle Me Bert, you're the one that wants my closers.

Basebo---
For someone who is really into this fantasy baseball stuff, you sure have dropped the ball on your blogsite. Last post was March 21st and now it is April 23rd.
Since I don't follow any team but the home team (the Twins) through thick and thin, I don't care much about fantasy trades. My question is this:
Does fantasy baseball promote the sport or just it just discourage fans to root for a single team? I think the latter is true and lament that you kids care more about your fantasy team than your home team. Maybe that's why Benchwarmer's team is doing so poorly. At heart, he just wants the Twins to win.

That's what I thought at first when I started playing last year, we never had much players from the home team, I always had other players. If you played FLB you might find that it isn't all rooting for the guys on your team - there IS some fun included, like when your player hits 3 home-runs in one night. the thrill of it all makes me want to do it the rest of my life

Bo, thanks for the comment on my site. I would love to add a meaningful comment to your blog, but I have strong negative associations with fantasy baseball courtesy of your uncle E.

If I WERE going to draft a fantasy baseball team it would probably include the following 80s/90s era players:

1. Ozzie Smith because he occasionally did backflips in the outfield.

2. Dan Gladden because he had a cool scruffy haircut (like you) and he sometimes stole home.

3. Scott Erickson becuase, as Aunt Ashley points out, he was smokin' hot.

So, keep up the good work Bo. You are well on your way to driving some poor woman crazy someday.

GrandMary -
That's not an either/or question. Fantasy baseball very much promotes the sport. My boys wouldn't know half of what they know about baseball without it. It also has the potential to discourage fans from rooting for a local team (if they even have one). Baseball is much more than just rooting for the local team, though. I think FLB has given the boys a "larger picture" of the sport, not limited to one location. Which may come in handy if someday we are without a local franchise.
That said, I am a Twins fan, too. I don't think FLB and local support are mutually exclusive. They are two different games. Grandpa isn't really playing FLB. He's just rooting for the home team. Which is fine, but will not gain many points in FLB. That's just not how you play that game.
Bo - sorry this is so long. Post some more, please!! I want to hear about some good under-rated pitchers.

Listen to you Mamadala - what have you learned through Fantasy Baseball? Who the cute players are? Now that is valuable information.

Minnehaha Mama - Don't forget Joe Nicro (sp?) - the pitcher with the sand paper in his back pocket!

My Old Timers Fantasy team would have Randy Bush (famous for "the slide" in the '87 series), Dan Gladden and Bert Blyleven because I love both of them now as Twins commentators--one on TV, one on radio---and for their play in the past, Kent Hrbek, Kirby, Sandy Koufax, Frank Viola, and Jack Morris (for his grittiness and "Don't get in my way; just let me get the job done" attitude.) I pretty much loved every member of the "87 Twins team. From other teams I would have Cal Ripkin, Nolan Ryan, and a guy from the '87 Tigers whose name I have forgotten. He was the batter in the "Diamond Dreams" song.
