Closer Summary; Number five

Bobby Jenks
Great choice, pick him in the mid rounds because closers are never the in the top 20. Great closer material though, he did very well in the post-season - Particularly the World Series when it mattered the most. His Fastball tops out at 102 MPH. Hitters can't even touch him.

Closer Summary; Number four

Brad Lidge
This guy has it all, ERA (2.29), Saves (42 out of 46 chances in the '05 season), A great team (89 and 73 record). And man, what a great strikeout closer (103 in 70.2 innings). If you want a fireman who can get the job done with a great strikeout chance then pick this guy. I had him briefly for the last part of the '05 season for my team and wished I had gotten him sooner. He struck out the side about 6 times and got quite a few saves for me in that time.

Closer Summary; Number three

Chad Cordero
Kind of an ugly guy, but that's not what being a fireman is about...
chad was under 1.00 ERA before the last last ten games of the season went amiss. He had 8 earned runs in the last 8.0 innings he played in '05. He still ended up with the ERA of 1.82. and the majors leading 47 saves.
As I said in my first post, with newfound offense he will be an even better choice in '06

Closer Summary; Number two

Francisco Rodriguez
With a good team, Great ERA (2.67) and 45 saves in '05 he''s one of the best closer picks of '06

Closer Summary; Number one

I'm gonna do a quick summary on all the closers and why I think they are in the spot I put them in. But i'm gonna do one at a time

Mariano Rivera
"Mario" has great ERA, WHIP and saves each year. We always think he'll do best because he's on the best team in the whole MLB. And he gets close each year. 2 years ago he lead the majors with almost a record breaking 53 saves. But now he's getting older. He's getting worse... (still very great)

I believe that he will be the number one or two closer picked in the Fantasy drafts.

First post

Francisco Cordero
Alot of people have said that Fransisco Cordero did a bad job as a closer last year - not true. He had 37 saves and 79 strikeouts in 69.0 innings pitched for a team that has never gotten to the world series. And his ERA was only 3.39, not bad. i say he is a solid choice in the middle rounds of any Fantasy Baseball draft.

Alfonso Soriano
The Soriano trade was an OK move for both teams. It helped the Nationals by giving them much needed offense. That also makes their closer a better option then last year and he did great with the MLB leading 47 saves. also very strong ERA (1.82) and WHIP (0.97). Based on his numbers he can be among the best closers in '06.
The other side of the trade is not so great though... If the Rangers really needed an outfielder i could see them getting Wilkerson, other fielder and a pitcher for Sori, which they did. they still have a few great batters in their lineup. i guess i'm saying that Mark Teixiera and and Mike Young can power the team through still - without Soriano.

-more to come, Bo
